King Mswati III increases personal budget to R610 million

Mswati III is the current king of Swaziland and head of the Swati Royal family.  He currently has 27 children from his 13 wives.

It has been reported that the King has increased his personal budget by more than 10 percent to $16 million. He apparently makes provision for his salary, mother's upkeep and royal aides.

Continue for more after the cut...

His net worth is estimated to be around $200 million. The king's budget is not for discussion at parliament,  as such would be seen as challenging Africa's last monarchy.  He has resisted democratic reforms, while his extravagant lifestyle amid vast poverty has been critised by pro- democratic activists.

In August 2007, the king made it clear that no political parties will be formed in his country unless he says so and I quote "I want to stress out that political parties remained banned up until the people of  Swaziland say so"

Meanwhile, Swaziland is one of the poorest nations in the southern Africa, increased his personal budget to R610 million for 2014. A vivid sign that the rich get richer and the poor get poorer.
